Metroid: Samus Returns is a science-fiction adventure game by Mercury Steam and Nintendo, released for the Nintendo 3DS systems in 2017. Despite being the 12th game in the Metroid franchise, it is a Remake of the original 1991 Game Boy game "Metroid II: Return Of Samus". Like in the original, Samus has to eradicate the Metroid popularion on the planet SR388 so that their existance will be prevented for future schemes of the Space Pirates. What was changed in the remake were fully changed enviroments, new bosses, few abillities from Super Metroid (Gravity Suit and Grapple Beam), Aeion abillities, Post-Game Unlockables and more. Mercury Steam would later make their second Metroid titule, "Metroid Dread", this time for the Nintendo Switch systems in 2021.

For people who bought the Legacy Edition of the game, they also get the 8-Bit Samus Keychain, a download code for "Metroid II: Return Of Samus" on the Nintendo 3DS E-Shop and a special CD album named "Samus Archives", containing tracks from older Metroid titles.
