Cho Aniki Zero plays much like previous games, without many significant changes. It introduces different protein types dropped by enemies to power up the main shot, fill up the Men's Beam gauge or add screen-clearing bombs. Options now track the player's movement, with the player being able to lock their position, and the player is also able to turn backwards to shoot enemies coming from behind.
